Painting Pumpkins

So I wanted to do something fun with the older kids since the new baby has got most of the attention since we have been home. They had got the pumpkins when they were staying with my mom while we were in Tucson, so I decided it would be fun to let them paint on them. Good idea, they LOVED it. Colby had every color on the pumpkin, then decided to mix all the colors together and paint it one color. He likes to mix things to see what happens. And Becca is such a careful painter. She tried so hard not to let any of the colors that she was painting touch. Such opposites!!

She is Here!!!

Macie Carol Hancock

9-23-08
6 lbs 13 oz
19 inches

Well Macie is here. I'm a little slow on getting this updated, but we've been a little busy!! You forget how demanding a newborn is, and WOW what a difference 3 kids is from 2!!

She did give us a little scare the first night in the hospital, and they did end up flying her to Tucson. She had a couple spells where she quit breathing so they thought it was best to send her and have her monitored. It was really hard to let them take her away in the helicopter without us, but Chris left right after they did, and got to be with her right away. Because of my c-section there were a few things the Dr wanted me to do before he would release me, but I did get to go that day and made it up there to be with her. We were there for 3 days, and nothing more happened. They said that it was pretty common for babies to gag on mucus and milk and close off their airway to avoid getting fluid in their lungs when they are first born. Who knew? So anyways we are home now and she is doing great.
I want to thank everyone for your thoughts and calls of support. This was for sure the scariest thing we've ever been thru- we made it, and have a health little girl.

Meet Daisy

Well we decided to get new puppy about 2 weeks before the baby was due. Cleve's chocolate labs had 9 puppies, and only one of them was yellow, so that is the one we chose. She is so cute, and the kids love her. I'm excited for the kids to have a puppy that they can grow up with, we just hope that she stops chewing everything soon!!

Happy Birthday Chris!!

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my guy- yesterday. Although he is getting really old (33!!), he is the best husband and father we could ask for. Hope you had a great day, we love you!!

Colby's Off to Pre-School

Colby started pre-school last week and was so excited to go. He goes 3 days a week, so of course I took him the first 2 days. On the 3rd day, he wanted to ride the bus. I was a little hurt I guess you could say so I talked him into letting me take him again. As soon as we got to the school, I was getting out to walk him to his class and he tells me "Mom, I can do it by my self. I know where my class is, you stay at the truck." Hello!!!- I was so proud and sad at the same time! So I let him walk into the hall where I could barely see his little head thru the window on the door from my truck and prayed that he made it ok as I drove off. So needless to say I had to start letting him ride the bus this week. I talked the neighbor girl to come down to his stop and get on so she could show him where to sit and how to get to his class when he got to the school. When the bus pulled up, he started to walk off without even giving me a hug or kiss. I was able to stop him and squeeze one out. I am really glad that he likes to go to school, and ride the bus. It would be so hard if he didn't want to go. He is growing so fast I'm confused on whether i'm supposed to be sad or proud. For now I'm just going to be both I guess.

4 More Weeks!!

Just a little update on me and my belly. I am now 35 weeks and only have 4 or less to go. I am schedule for my c-section on Sept 23rd, but really hoping to go before then. Just this past weekend, I've decided I am ready. I'm finally getting just plain uncomfortable. I told the dr today that when I come back in 2 weeks, I'm going to be ready to do this thing, I hope he is too!! He just laughs at me. She finally has a name....Macey Carol Hancock. I am so tired of looking at the book, we are sticking with this one!!!!

Go Silver Eagles!!!

Colby is official a member of the Silver Eagles Soccer Team!! They had their first game this past Saturday and it is hillarius! They are just 4, 5, and 6 yr olds, and run their little butts off- usually in the wrong direction. Colby did so good though, he scored 3 of the 4 goals on his team. They won 4-2. He really loves playing, and is pretty good at it.

Colby headed down the field towards the goal

GOOOAAALLLL!! Colby #2 scoring the 1st goal of the game! Great job son!!!

Camping in Alpine, AZ

So the last weekend in July we went up to Alpine for a few days. It was so nice to get out of the heat. We went with the Merrick's, who are just about some of the nicest people you could ever know. The kids had a blast, and even got to see 2 Bull Elk, a huge flock of Turkeys (the babies are so cute!!), and a crap load of cows every day. We camped in a meadow, and that seemed to be the meadow where the cows would come to graze every day. Becca just wanted to keep going to see them, and our dog Magnum enjoyed chasing them. Fun for everyone I guess!

One afternoon on our daily rhino rides, we got stuck in what seemed to be a huge rainstorm. Chris packed the biggest tarp I've ever seen, and we got all 3 rhinos under it and just hung out until the rain lightened up a little bit, then he put the tarp just over our rhino so that we could only see out of the windshield and headed back to camp. I wish that I would have gotten out a taken a picture...it was pretty redneck- even for Chris!!!

Tymbr Merrick, Thomas Lindhorst, and Colby playing right before the rainstorm started!

Colby shooting his bow and arrow. He got it for his birthday last year, and has became a pretty good shot. He really enjoys shooting it.

Becca picking flowers! Bless her sweet heart, she picked me flowers all weekend. I am confident that I received more flowers from her in 4 days, than from Chris in 10 years!! lol!!

On Saturday it rained pretty much all day, so the kids pretty much played under the awnings, except Becca who though it was great to drink the water that was pouring off the corner of the awning.

Becca finally riding her Dora 4-wheeler that she got for Christmas. Up until this weekend, she would only sit on it.

Colby and Becca in their raincoats. Can you tell Colby is not to excited about wearing it!!

Swimming Lessons

So I'm a little behind, but what's new! (still developing film!! thanks guys for not clueing Chris in!!) So this year we were hoping to be living in Pima by the time swim lessons started so that is where we signed up. Even though we were still in Safford, we went ahead with the lessons in Pima, and I'm so glad we did. He learned SO MUCH MORE than he did the last 2 years in Safford. Maybe he is just older, but I'm going with Pima is so much better!! He can actually do about 4-5 strokes now before he comes up, and he loves to dive off the board. Anyways, can't wait for next year.
