Well my boy had yet another surgery yesterday. They put the ear tubes back in and took the anenoids out. He was pretty mad when we got there, which we expected. He is mad because he has to wear ear plugs again. So I had to go back with him, which I knew was going to be really hard to watch him be put under again, so I just didn't look at his face and held his hand while talking to him. Those of you who have been there, know what I'm talking about- those of you who don't, just trust me and don't watch. When they came to get me when he woke up, he was pretty upset. He just kept crying, and was trying to rip the iv out of his arm. I finally got him calmed down and we got him to drink some water so they could take the iv out. Then he was upset about the pulse ox that was on his finger. He kept saying that the red light was burning his finger and it hurt. He was also refusing to take the pain meds that they had for him. He said he couldn't do it because he didn't know how it would taste. Those of you that know just how picky he is are probably laughing, because that is totally Colby!! So after about an hr of begging, bargaining, and then threatening with him he still refused to take it so they called in a rx for it and let us go. The poor thing was pretty upset from the anesthesia and demerol. I really hate seeing him go thru that, and pray that it doesn't have to happen again. As soon as we got the rx I bribed him with a new monster truck to get him to take the meds. Hey gotta do what you gotta do- I didn't want him to be in pain on the way home!! Well he is doing great now. You wouldn't even know that anything happened. I guess I was worrying because I didn't know what to expect with the anenoids, but all is well.

My eyes are all teary just reading this and remembering what we just went through! They told us the biggest complaint with adeniods is that they say their neck hurts and it can be stiff for a few days. We thankfully didn't have that side effect. Poor boy and poor you! I think it is just a rough (emotionally anyway) on the mom. Good luck with recovery!
That sounds awful! He sounds alot like Kenzee though when it comes to taking medicines..She will gag until she pukes which defeats the point of taking the medicine.. (must be a 5 year old thing or maybe a first born, who knows!!) I have found that if we chase the medicine with Choclate Milk that works great! I hope he doesn't have to go thur this again, Kannon has major issues with his ears that scare me, he just had a tube fall out! I haven't taken him in cause I afraid of what they will say (bad huh!) Anyways good luck with the recovery, kids are so resilience when it comes to things like this!
Awww...poor little guy! And yes I totally understand what you mean about them putting them under. When Kamri got her tonsils out, which is a pretty basic procedure, I cried the whole time you was not in my arms and then cried after she was in my arms. It's a mom thing...I hope that he doesn't have to do this again...or you for that matter.
Poor little guy! And poor you! It's just as hard on the mom! Hope he stays better!
